Spectators for School Activities

Dear coaches, parents, and guardians:

In light of the new COVID-19 measures that were announced on September 15th, 2021, Coalhurst High School, along with all high schools in Palliser School Division, has made the decision to not have spectators at our athletic events for the foreseeable future.  This means that for upcoming games and tournaments, only athletes and their coaches will be permitted to attend.  The complexities of the new measures involving capacity and distancing requirements make it difficult to manage the number of spectators we would be permitted to have in a fair and balanced manner.  In the interest of keeping sports going for our students, we are sadly foregoing having spectators in our building so that we do not put their safety or their season at risk.

We are hopeful that this will be a temporary measure and that we will be able to gather and cheer on our students together in the not-too-distant future. Athletics are an important part of school life, and supporting our students is an important part of community life.  We recognize the value of having spectators at games and are hopeful that we can return to normal soon.  In the meantime, we are working to live video stream all of our games. Please check the school website for links to the live video stream.

I ask that you please share this information with your teams and the families of your athletes.  If you have any questions regarding this announcement, please contact me at the school at 403-381-4812

Sincerely,

Stephen Horne
