This page is intended for use by students, parents and teachers to provided a place to access resources related to wellness, for example; nutrition, social issues, mental health. 

Where to start?

Studies show that having at least one trusted adult in a teens life will help them when they need to learn how to cope and being there to support them is the best thing you can do.

The following resources are meant to;

  • To provide a vehicle for teens to be able to better understand their parents and their relationship with their parents.
  • To encourage the students to discuss issues pertaining to being a teenager and mental health with their parents.

The resources are quite in depth and may best be used as a daily reading activity, 10-15 minutes at a time. 

What is Mental Health Literacy?

Mental health literacy is the foundation for mental health promotion, prevention, intervention and ongoing care. 

Mental health literacy encompasses skills to

  • obtain and maintain good mental health,
  • recognize and understand mental disorders and their treatments,
  • decrease stigma related to mental illness,
  • enhance help-seeking efficacy (when to get help, where to get help, what to expect, how to get the help you need)
